Azureus > Tools > Options > Connection


  • Incoming TCP listen port

See Port is blacklisted.


  • Bind to local IP address.

If you have several local IP addresses (for example several network cards), and you only wish to use one of them, write the IP address here.


  • Max simultaneous outbound connection attempts

Set to 8 when using Windows XP SP2, otherwise to 16 or maybe 20.


  • Proxy Options

The following options are for use if you're using a proxy ot connect to the internet.


  • Enable Proxying of tacker communications [restart required]

This sets Azureus to use a proxy to connect to the tracker.


  • I have a SOCKS proxy

check this if you're using a SOCKS proxy.


  • Host

This is the IP of the proxy server.


  • Port

This is the port to connect to on the proxy.


  • Username

This is your username on the proxy.


  • Password

this is the password you use to log in.


  • Enable proxying of peer connections (outgoing connections only) [restart required]

This option enables you to use a proxy when uploading information to the peers (seeding and all uploads).


  • Inform tracker of limitation

Check this to let the tracker know you're using a proxy.


  • SOCKS version

The version of the SOCKS protocol your proxy uses.


  • Use same settings for tracker and peer communications proxy

Check this to use the same settings for the peer proxy that the tracker proxy uses.


  • Host

The proxy server IP for client connections.


  • Port

The port to connect to the client proxy.


  • Username

Same as above username entry.


  • Password

Same as above password entry.


  • Networks

Select which networks you connect to for peer information and transmission.


  • Public IP network (not anonymous)
  • I2P network
  • the Orion Router (Tor) network


  • Prompt for selection when a with an anonymous tracker is added

If this is enabled, when a torrent with an anonymous tracker is added, it prompts for which network(s) to use.


  • Peer Sources

Where Azureus will lok for peers to download/upload from/to.


  • From a tracker

Uses the sipplied tracker to locate peers.


  • Decentralized tracking

Uses the decentralized tracker built into azureus to obtain peers.


  • Supplied by another peer

Uses gets lists of peers from a peer you're currently connected to.


  • Added by a plugin

For those cases where a plugin may want to add a peer into a torrent.


  • Advanced network settings

Do not change these unless you know what you're doing!
