  • shouldn't there be a page with information on where/how to find torrent files?? - 80.3.128.9 23:24, 26 Aug 2005 (CEST)
How about Helpful links or google? Due to legal reasons it should be obvious that the developers won't tolerate any help with illegal content on their site.

alternatives to the login requirement?

I think we could reopen then wiki and use range-bans, mass-reverts... and other things: here a list of possible options:

Nice suggestions, but as far as I understand it it would still be quite some work reverting the creation of (lots of) new pages. I read about a method (can't findx the URL right now) that adds code to the pages, resulting in this:

  • anyone is able to edit pages
  • OPs have to confirm the changes before the are finally put into place

Combining that with the http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/SpamBlacklist_extension could work!

Regards

It's all about the community. If the wiki gets a significant userbase, it will be able to handle mass vandalism, but otherwise it won't hold, even with technical measures. — AmbushCommander(Talk) 04:07, 3 November 2005 (CET)

If I remember the explanation correctly, wasn't the main reason for manual user registration because of spambots auto-creating login IDs, and spammed with advertisments? If so, wouldn't the solution be to use one of those account creation pages that have the "enter the number you see in this image" while a bot can not read because it's an image? --TuxPaper 08:34, 6 November 2005 (CET)

cleanup of the main page

  • imho the main page looks more like another FAQ it should be visually structured and more compact imho... maybe like wikisource, just less stuffed
    any opinions? --The8472 22:36, 14 Oct 2005 (CEST)
    • I kinda like the idea of it being a 'mini-FAQ' (displaying the most important pages) but it sure could have a new, cleaner layout with a bit more structure - no specific ideas though (yet)... --BrotherS 00:43, 15 Oct 2005 (CEST)
      • sort of... done --The8472 05:58, 22 Oct 2005 (CEST)

Colors

The new colors look kinda nice, but are a bit too dark: try lightening them up a little (even if it means using full 6 letter codes). — AmbushCommander(Talk) 04:05, 3 November 2005 (CET)

Hrrm... the brightness of a color depends on your screen settings... they are quite bright on mine. And using 6 letter codes doesn't make a difference. #fcc means #ffcccc (the red box) as you might see the red component is already maxed and the other two are quite bright, too. Thus i suggest you change your screen contrast or brightness values instead. --The8472 20:57, 4 November 2005 (CET)
Compared with Wikipedia, however, the colors are way too dark: #FFF3F3 (this high a value cannot possibly be done with a three letter code) for red and #F0F0FF for blue produce reasonable shades. — AmbushCommander(Talk) 17:34, 5 November 2005 (CET)
Errr... you know that the colorspace consists of 255 values for each color, and since hex numbers go from 0-9A-F #FCC is already in the "bright" half of the spectrum, everything below A might be considered "dark". Otherwise you're saying that only 1/16th of the entire colorspace is "bright" and everything else is "too dark". And that is inacceptable imho since there would be only 16 different "bright" choices per channel.
Could somebody else add a comment? --The8472 19:16, 5 November 2005 (CET)
Wait... are we talking about brightness or saturation? --The8472 19:28, 5 November 2005 (CET)
Colors are and always were looking just fine on my screen--BrotherS 18:19, 27 January 2006 (GMT) Are there any complaints left? :)

Google Advert

The google advert doesn't look very 'intergrated' with the new colour change. I personally think it looks a little unprofessional -Flash13

Image Title tags

Hey everyone! Thanks for letting me join the wiki. My question is: do we want to add TITLE tags to some/all of the images or icons here? I added a TITLE tag to the green smilee connection icon on the Main page just as an example. My rationale is that when I first installed Azureus my Java was out of date, and so I was unable to actually launch the program. Thus I came here looking for help (and found it! thanks!), but I was confused by the icon. Since I couldn't actually launch Azureus, I hadn't seen the icon before, and so had no idea what it was. The guide told me I needed them, so I rolled my mouse over the image to see if the tooltip text would give me some hint as to what they were. But there was no tooltip text! So I thought that adding it might help people who had the same problem. What do you think?

I was unable to get the tooltip text to work with external images, so I uploaded a local copy temporarily to use in the example. My apologies if that was the wrong thing to do. I will go jump on Wikipedia as soon as I finish this post and see if I can get some help there.

Phew! That was long. If anyone has an opinion, that would be great. Thanks again! --culix 23:12, 20 September 2006 (GMT)

I like it. :) --SoN 08:41, 21 September 2006 (GMT)
Yes, alt and title-attributes are a good idea for img tags. --The8472 16:29, 22 September 2006 (GMT)
